Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

We can promote job creation, expanded access to banking and financial services, and ensure that everyone gets the benefits of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Our planning services focus on the triple bottom line: People, Planet, and shared Prosperity.

West Central Initiative offers gap financing to help business owners fund their projects. Partnering with local lenders, WCI can assist with business startup or expansion, with a particular focus on job creation and retention.

We support community funds in their pursuit of their local and global goals.

  • Be a conscious consumer—if something is cheap, especially online, it’s likely hurting people or the planet in some way.
  • Talk to your local Chamber of Commerce or economic development staff about initiatives that could use your support.
  • Help with local events. If you have a community celebration in your town, it’s likely there is an opportunity for you to volunteer your time there. Events are hard work, but they often stimulate downtown business activity too!
  • Buy from local producers and locally owned stores.
  • Organize a mentoring program. Invite people with experience and success in local entrepreneurship to help young people better prepare for a future job or business in our region.
