Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

Access to clean water is not a given. It’s a product of adequate infrastructure, wastewater regulations, and appropriate land and water management. It’s also a necessity for human health.

Through the Resilient Communities Grant program, we’ve provided grants for projects focused on clean water and sustainability.

In June of 2022, in partnership paleBLUEdot, LLC., we began to develop climate-planning tools for west central Minnesota.

Read all about our progress on this first-ever regional plan in Minnesota, including how we can protect our water.

Our planning services focus on the triple bottom line: People, Planet, and shared Prosperity.

In 2022, we facilitated conversations with Otter Tail River Watershed stakeholders as they engaged in the One Watershed One Plan

We support community funds in their pursuit of their local and global goals.

  • Organize a clean-up project, especially those near lakes, rivers, and wetlands.
  • Don’t overuse water. Take shorter showers, run full washing machines and dishwashers, and turn off the tap when brushing your teeth.
  • Learn more about the water flows in your neighborhood and surrounding rural areas, especially wetlands that show a change in water levels.
  • Learn about rain gardens and how they can save municipalities money on storm water issues.
  • Talk to your Soil and Water Conservation office about how you can lend support to their efforts.
