Lake Park Regional CyberSafe Training for Cities and Local Government Units
November 17 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Free
Join us and CyberFyfe on November 17 at the Lake Park City Center for a practical cybersecurity training for small and mid-sized cities, townships, and other local government units across west central Minnesota.
Local governments manage sensitive information, financial systems, public records, utilities, websites, and communications—often without dedicated information technology staff. This training will cover practical steps local leaders and staff can take to better protect their organizations without requiring extensive technical knowledge.
Participants will learn about upcoming cybersecurity and technology requirements, including the transition to a .gov domain, website accessibility requirements, and tools available through Minnesota IT Services. The training will also cover common cybersecurity risks and best practices for email, personal devices, file storage, passwords, multifactor authentication, public records, and preparing for cyber incidents.
The session will include approximately 30–45 minutes of instruction, followed by 15–20 minutes for questions and discussion.
Each participating local government will also receive a complimentary CyberSafe Scorecard to help identify strengths, potential risks, and priority areas for improvement.
This training is designed for elected officials, city and township clerks, administrators, department heads, public safety leaders, board members, and other local government staff. No technical background is required.
