SUMMARY:Community Conversations: Toward a Positive Rural Vision — Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this dynamic event series to foster dialogue and collaboration within the rural Minnesota community. The series is comprised of three community conversations tackling themes essential for our region’s growth and prosperity —democracy\, leadership\, and climate action. Through engaging discussions\, we seek to inspire positive change\, foster a sense of unity\, and envision a vibrant and sustainable future for all. Anyone interested in participating in these conversations is invited to attend. \nDinner 5:30 p.m.\, Discussion 6:00 p.m.\nWest Central Research and Outreach Center\, University of Minnesota Morris\nCost to Attend: Free and Open to All\, Registration Required\nApril 22: Climate Action\nCelebrate Earth Day with Dr. Pete Wyckoff\, Assistant Commissioner in the Energy Division at the Minnesota Department of Commerce (pictured). Join us for an engaging discussion that delves into the latest Federal\, state\, and local opportunities and grants available to communities committed to environmental sustainability. Dr. Wyckoff has had a remarkable personal journey from biology professor at the University of Minnesota Morris to Washington D.C. and back to Minnesota. As Senator Tina Smith’s top energy advisor\, Dr. Wyckoff helped craft one of the most important pieces of climate legislation of any industrialized country in history\, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Dr. Wyckoff will share his insights about climate action and the clean energy transition\, including new opportunities provided by the IRA\, and what steps we can take personally and collectively. \nThe presentation will be followed by a discussion to uncover opportunities to address climate change at local\, state\, and federal levels. Former Minnesota State Senator Dan Skogen will moderate this culminating event. As we commemorate Earth Day\, let’s come together to explore avenues for creating a more resilient future. \nSpace is limited\, and registration is required. \nRegister
